About Satelit
Satelit is a free price-comparison site and family money app for Moldova. Every morning it reads public prices from the country’s online stores, compares 179 everyday products per litre, kilo or item, and publishes the results in Romanian, Russian, English and Ukrainian. It started in a kitchen in Chișinău with a simple question: where do we buy what we need this week for less?
How it started
The project started as the kitchen bot of a family from Chișinău: an assistant that planned the week’s menu, wrote the shopping list and filled the store cart, comparing prices across several online stores.
It worked so well that the “what do we still need” note came off the fridge for good. So we decided to build it for every family in Moldova.
How we work
We handle family money and data, so everything is precise and verifiable.
What we do
On satelit.md we publish, for free, today’s prices from Moldova’s online stores, the recipes of the day priced from them and the monthly Basket index.
In the app, families track spending, lists, meals and shopping plans, with an AI assistant that knows the prices.
How we collect and compare prices
Prices come only from the public websites of online stores in Moldova: supermarkets, pharmacies, electronics, clothing and shoes, kids, sports, home and DIY, beauty and pet stores. The full list, with each store’s status, is on the Stores page.
The 179 everyday products are read every morning at 06:00 Chișinău time. Free-text searches use results at most 6 hours old. Every price we see is kept, which gives each product 12 months of history.
“Cheapest” means the lowest price per litre, kilogram or item among offers in stock, VAT included, without delivery or loyalty-card discounts. The Basket index uses the same prices, on the first day of each month. Its method is on its own page.
Sources, dates and corrections
Every price page shows the date and time of its last update, and every offer links to the store page it was read from. We never show estimated or unverified prices.
The order on every page comes from the prices alone. If you spot a wrong price or a product matched to the wrong item, write to date@satelit.md with the page link and we fix the data source, not just the page.
